WhiskeyGinger is made from equal parts Nicole Jekich and Luke Turpeinen: inseparable partners and friends- like Robin Hood and Little John. We started by collaborating on group projects in college, and since have been working together for eight years. We are the ones behind the curtain at NerdySeattle.com and AcrossTheBoardGames.net, which we started as a way to help nerds new to Seattle find others to connect with and as a way to introduce indy games to those new to the board game hobby, respectively.

WhiskeyGinger offers creative solutions for artistic, narrative and thematic design problems. As artists with a background in animation, we are well versed in visual storytelling- a key tool for making an effective board game. Whether you need concept art, creative writing, art direction or narrative design, we can help your game resonate more deeply with your fan base. Contact us with a description of your project for a free quote.

Our blog posts labelled “WhiskeyGinger” are our way of sharing projects and creative endeavors in game development. We talk mostly about our process because we hope that providing a look at how we approach design problems can provide insight to others looking to resolve similar design issues. WhiskeyGinger values sharing information that makes it easier for more people to make a living by being creative.

WhiskeyGinger Projects

Food Truck Champion is WhiskeyGinger’s first foray into game design. Using a “follow the leader” mechanic, players cook food and hire staff in order to become the most popular food truck of them all! Food Truck Champion has been playtested for a year now, and has recently signed a publishing agreement. Look for a Kickstarter project in the Spring of 2017.

ManaSurge is published by Daily Magic Games, was designed by Frank Sronce and includes illustrations by Zulkarnaen Hasan Basri. WhiskeyGinger designed and did layout for both the box wrap and the rulebook, and also designed the suit icons and banners.

Valeria: Card Kingdoms is a game published by Daily Magic games, designed by Isaias Vallejo and illustrated by Mihajlo Dimitrievski. During their Kickstarter, the campaign funded a stretch goal that would give unique art and names some of their cards that lacked that. Daily Magic wanted to allow backers to vote on possible names for the unique art, so they needed four distinct names for each of their Domain cards before time ran out on their campaign. Whiskey Ginger devised the four names for each card, and the backers of the campaign voted on their favorites, which were included in the final game.
