Fund It Friday! January 20th
Here we are on another Friday. This day started a bit rougher than the others, with the inauguration of a new president, but one beer cocktail and a pep talk later, I’m ready for the long four years ahead. Luke and I have always worked to make Across The Board Games a welcoming place for gamers of all colors and creeds and we will continue to do so with additional vigor and renewed purpose. Now let’s focus on the positive and see what awesome board games are being made:
This small print run of FrogFlip is just for Kickstarter backers and will not reach the retail market! FrogFlip! is a dexterity-based game designed by father and daughter team Jason and Claire Kotarski of Green Couch Games. I enjoy the fun, quick games from this publisher and FrogFlip! is a great pocket-sized game where players are trying to flip a frog onto a lily pad to catch flies for dinner. It’s simple, fast and has only 3 days left in its campaign!
This chaotic game of dice placement and stacking is a competitive, 15 minute game that is great to play in a bar with friends. The dice represent the dwarves who go digging down into an old mine in hopes of riches. Players will stack dice on cards, follow the card actions and delve further into the mine but a card could reveal a goblins, gold or death. Dwarves: Dig, Delve, Die is a lighthearted and fast-paced game and the first player to get 5 gold pieces wins!
The colorful game, KIWETIN, is a racing board game where players take on the role of one of three forest spirits. Each spirit has a unique shape which will alter how you move across the length of the board towards the finish line. Along the board, players can run into action tiles scattered throughout the board which can hinder, help or completely change the players’ course. KIWETIN is a fun variation on the roll-and-move mechanic and it goes beautifully with a thematic board and characters.
I love the diverse line up of adventurers in Delve with their beefy Sellswords to the nature-loving Forestfolk. Taking classic groups in fantasy adventures, Delve brings different fantasy factions together to delve a dungeon, fight monsters and gather treasure. Delve is a tile-based exploration game where the board is built one tile at a time. Players get a lot of choice in-game and my favorite of the choices are the encounter cards where players can choose between two options when faced with an issue. Players could fight a monster or flee for example but sometimes must contribute resources or pay penalties if they lose a fight.
If you are looking to upgrade your tiles and terrain for Super Dungeon Explorer or Krosmaster, Chibi Arenas has you covered. These 3D terrain pieces feature the same exaggerated cartoony features of these chibi minis games. Players can get unpainted terrain of the basics: grass, stone, treasure chests, etc and players can also get more 3D set pieces like statues, portals, dungeon doors and more!
I hope you enjoyed this list of tabletop games and products that we are currently obsessing over on Kickstarter. If you have a Kickstarter you think we should cover, please let us know in the comments or contact us on Facebook and Twitter. Please consider supporting or sharing these campaigns with friends to help these games meet their goal. We’ll be back with another Fund It Friday article next week!
