Fund It Friday! April 21st

Hello! Welcome to Friday and a weekend that promises more clouds and rain where we live. I, however, am prepared. I recently read the rules to a couple of newly-delivered Kickstarter games. I hope to get in a couple plays of Sagrada (dice drafting and stained glass window building game) and Starving Artists (paint by cube game) over the weekend. What are you playing?

Enjoy our favorite Kickstarter campaigns of the week:

Peak Oil:

As a top manager in a big oil company, you will be trying to profit from the last bit of oil the Earth has to offer. You will visit various oil fields, mine the oil and ship it to a refinery. Gaining profit from the oil can go into investing in future energy sources and startup companies. The competition is fierce as the other players also represent energy companies looking to be the most profitable. Even your company’s reputation is on the line. If you can survive in this culture of crisis and profit, Peak Oil will deliver an exciting worker placement and management game.

Bridges to Nowhere:

Bridges to Nowhere is a simple micro game for 1-4 players. Each round, players will draft cards from a center line up and add them to their bridge in progress. Players are looking to connect certain symbols, as shown at the bottom of each bridge card, into matching chains and complete secret contracts which award players bonus points. After 4 rounds, players score all their bridge cards and bonus points. The player with the most points wins the game…and a new infrastructure contract.

Magitics:

Magitics is a tactical game of fantasy heroes facing off in combat. Each player manages a team of characters to fight their opponents and be the last team standing. Much like a roleplaying or adventure game, players will gather new spells and items to supercharge their characters while moving around the board and attacking other players. Additional tokens will fit into a character card like a puzzle piece and players use these items in combination with spells and character abilities to make them even more fearsome.

Rayguns & Rocketships:

Join your crew in a pulp action space game! Rayguns & Rocketships is a miniatures game where you control your ship and the crew inside the ship. If you enjoy the task of micromanaging, this game features two separate boards: one that is the inside of your ship and one for the galaxy where everyone’s ship flies around. Players will move around their crew to different positions on the ship to affect their movement and firepower. Next players move and attack other players with their ship. I love the different factions that represent the common characters in the golden age of sci-fi and backers can unlock more factions in the stretch goals.

I hope you enjoyed this list of tabletop games and products that we are currently obsessing over on Kickstarter. If you have a Kickstarter you think we should cover, please let us know in the comments or contact us on Facebook and Twitter. Please consider supporting or sharing these campaigns with friends to help these games meet their goal. We’ll be back with another Kickstarter article next week!
